LSA Elections 2023

Would you like to help shape the future of our expanding association? The LSA calls for candidates for the positions of Board of Directors, president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and committees. To guarantee progressive continuity and meaningful consistency, the LSA Constitution, which came into effect six years ago, stipulates that all positions must carry a commitment of five years. Only the officers (president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer) are eligible for reelection, up to a maximum of two terms.

The LSA Constitution Revision Committee, which also doubles as the Elections Committee, has resolved that only dues-paying members, including life members, are eligible to vote and be voted for. To enhance diversity, practically and intentionally, the committee resolved that only half of the BOD and committees are up for election. The remaining will be appointed by the president. For the updated list of dues-paying members, see this link: https://www.lagosstudies.org/membership-directory

Self-nomination is allowed. A complete CV and a motivation letter (addressed to the Constitution Revision and Election Committee) detailing a candidate’s vision for the LSA must be uploaded on the submission portal. Candidates who have served in previous committees are eligible for election into new committees. See the list of present committees and BOD, here: https://www.lagosstudies.org/boardandcommittees

To allow our worldwide eligible members to vote and be voted for, election will take place electronically, after the call for nomination and screening in early August 2023.

See this link for the LSA Constitution that stipulates the expectations for each position. https://www.lagosstudies.org/new-page
